Scripture Alone Sola Scriptura
We believe that when properly translated, the Bible is the inspired word of God.
It is the highest form of authority for believers on earth. There is no person or group of people who are higher or more important than the Scriptures.
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12, NKJV)
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We need to commit to becoming students of our Bibles. That means reading, studying, and applying the word to our lives.
It is easy for us to fall into the game of religious followership. But that is a trap that many “leaders” use to enhance their following.
We need to follow Jesus as defined by the Bible.
Martin Luther, the great reformer, once stated, “a simple layman armed with Scripture is greater than the mightiest pope without it.”
Remember, when you are reading your Bible, God is speaking directly to you! Pretty awesome thought.
Father, help us to understand that You seek to communicate with us through Your word. We desire to know You and hear You through Your holy word. In Jesus name, amen.
