The Power Of His Resurrection

04.19 Leviticus 23 Psalms 30 Ecclesiastes 6 2 Timothy  2 My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead. (Philippians 3:10-11, HCSB) “The term Holy Spirit is actually another name for the experience of eternal life working in human beings here and now. The Holy Spirit is the deity of God who continues to apply the power of the atonement by the Cross of Christ to our lives. Thank God for the glorious and majestic truth that His Spirit can work the very nature of Jesus into us, if we will only obey Him.” —- Oswald Chambers Thank you for reading The Simple Christian Life. Odds and Sods Vol 1 Issue 1

So, why change to site from Laboring In The Lord to The Simple Christian Life?Good question! There are a lot of reasons both spiritual and technical. For the time being, it was the right time and I found a domain name that works for me. Laboring will stay up and functional. Have not made a decision on what to more and what to leave. Sometime this week I will be moving the hosting to a cloud-based system. This will allow for better uptime, faster loading of the site, etc. There may be a short interruption during that time. It should be brief. Thank you for being here. You are appreciated! Thank you for reading The Simple Christian Life. Please feel free to express your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment!...

A Deeper Life

A Deeper Life 04.18 Leviticus 22 Psalms 28-29 Ecclesiastes 5 2 Timothy  1 My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead. (Philippians 3:10-11, HCSB) A deeper Christian is a simple life as well. Life tends to be very complex and we, as humans, tend to over complicate just about everything. But God never intended it to be so complex or confusing. We need to let go of all the junk of this life and simply follow Jesus. The rest will flow out of that (see Matthew 6:33, NKJV). Jesus Is God

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. (John 1:1-2, NKJV) 1:1-2 In the beginning. Have you read that somewhere before? The book of Genesis starts with these same words: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) And that’s exactly the point. From our perspective, our limited ability to grasp time, space, and creation, the beginning was when it was all made. When matter as we know it began to exist. When time started. When the cosmos came...

The Fourth Gospel?

The Gospel of John is the fourth part of what some call the four-fold gospel. We have four different writers with four voices giving different perspectives on the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Christian writers as early as Origen (a.d. 185-254) understood that there are not really four gospels, but there is one four-fold gospel. There is only Gospel! The Gospel of John was most likely the last of the four written, and written in view of what the previous three had already said. This is one reason why John’s account of the life of Jesus is in many ways different...

Today’s Bible Verse & Christian Quote

Today’s Bible Verse:

Colossians 3:5-7; Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.

Today’s Christian Quote:

To gratify any sensual appetite is to give it the very food and nourishment by which it lives, thrives, and is active.” – Adam Clarke
